Laser Works Art, Shop Policies & Terms

Welcome to Laser Works Art. To ensure the highest quality results and the safety of our equipment, we ask all customers to review our policies before placing an order.

1. Customization Laser Cutting & Engraving Disclaimer

By submitting an order or providing an item for engraving, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms:

• Customer-Supplied Items: All engraving on items provided by the customer is performed at the customer's own risk. Laser Works Art will take good care of customer-supplied items but, is not liable for the replacement cost of customer-supplied items that may be damaged, discoloured, or react unpredictably during the process.

• Material Variability: We cannot guarantee exact colours or results due to natural variations in wood grain, metal coatings, or synthetic finishes. Even identical-looking items may react differently to the laser.

• Assumption of Risk: Laser engraving involves high-intensity light and heat that creates a permanent change to the material. You understand that the process is irreversible.

• Copyrighted Material: By providing artwork or logos, you warrant that you own the rights to the content. Laser Works Art is not responsible for any intellectual property infringement claims arising from your provided designs.

• Sentimental Value: We recommend against engraving one-of-a-kind or highly sentimental items where the risk of loss cannot be mitigated.

• Proof Approval: Once a digital proof is approved (including spelling, font, and placement), Laser Works Art is not liable for any errors found afterwards. It is your responsibility to ensure all details are correct before production begins.

• Artwork Requirements: For the best results, please provide high-resolution files (300 DPI) or vector formats (AI, DXF, SVG). Low-quality images may require a manual cleanup fee of $35+.

• Material Verification: We cannot engrave certain materials, check (Restricted Materials Guide) due to the release of toxic gases. We reserve the right to refuse any item we deem unsafe for our equipment.

• Right of Refusal: We reserve the right to refuse any engraving request we deem inappropriate or technically unsuitable for our equipment.

• Social Media: We love showcasing our work! Unless you explicitly opt out, we may photograph your completed project for our portfolio or social media.

2. Payment & Pricing

• Payment Terms: For custom orders payment is required to begin work.

• Quotes: Estimates are valid for 15 days from the date of issue.

• Rush Orders: Projects requiring a turnaround of less than 48 hours will incur a 25% rush fee.

• Minimum Order Fee: The minimal charge for any custom individual small order is $25.

3. Returns & Abandoned Property

• Returns: Due to the personalized nature of our work, all sales are final. No refunds, returns or exchanges are provided once approved for production.

• Pickup Policy: Completed items must be picked up within 14 business days.

• Abandoned Items: Items left for more than 60 days without communication will be considered abandoned and may be disposed of or sold to recover material costs.

4. Custom Product & Laser Service Warranty Disclaimer

"All custom products and laser services are provided on an 'as-is' and 'as-available' basis.

4.1. Custom Product Variations: Because our custom products are uniquely manufactured or engraved, the customer acknowledges that no two items will be identical. Natural material variations (such as wood grain, leather markings, stone textures, and metal finishes) and slight machine misalignments are normal characteristics of laser processing and are not considered defects.

4.2. Proof Approval & File Accuracy: Customer assumes full responsibility for reviewing and approving all design proofs. Laser Works Art is not liable for errors in spelling, grammar, layout, colour selections, or sizing once a proof has been approved. For direct-file submissions, Laser Works Art is not responsible for defects caused by low-resolution images, incorrect vector lines, or faulty scaling provided by the customer.

4.3. Material Vulnerabilities: Laser Works Art does not warrant that materials—whether sourced by us or supplied by the customer—will react predictably to laser thermal processing. Laser processing on customer-supplied blanks is performed strictly at the customer's risk; Laser Works Art is not liable for replacing or reimbursing the cost of damaged customer-supplied items.

4.4. Exclusion of Implied Warranties: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Laser Works Art disclaims all express or implied warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, durability, and non-infringement.

5.5. Limitation of Liability: In no event shall Laser Works Art be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages (including lost profits). The total aggregate liability shall be strictly limited to the exact dollar amount paid by the customer for the specific product or service giving rise to the claim."

Restricted Materials Guide

To ensure our safety and the integrity of our equipment, the following materials cannot be accepted for laser engraving under any circumstances.

⚠️ Materials with Restrictions

• Leather: We only accept Vegetable-Tanned leather. Chromium-tanned leather (most common in garments) releases toxic hexavalent chromium when lasered.

• Treated Woods: We cannot engrave pressure-treated or chemically stained wood as they may release hazardous vapours.

•  Mirrors/Reflective Metals: High-polish surfaces can reflect the laser beam back into the lens, potentially destroying the machine optics.

How to Verify Your Item

If you are unsure of your item's composition, please provide a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) or a link to the manufacturer’s product page. For plastics, check the recycling code on the bottom:

• Recycling Code #3: Always PVC—Do Not Laser.

• Recycling Code #6 or #7: High risk of melting or unknown chemicals—Requires verification.
